But this morning I remember one where I was entered in a cross country style race except the course was up and down a mountain. I was running through all kinds of tough terrain, jumping over streams and climbing over, under, and around large trees and rocks along the way. Now I used to train like this 15 years ago just not to the extreme of the race I was running in my sleep. Lately I have even though about going for a cold weather run just to see how my body handles the extreme elements.
Now comes the weird part. I awoke this morning feeling like I had physically competed in the event that my mind was playing out. It is crazy to feel this sore after a night of sleep. Sure I played hockey on Sunday night, but to feel the effects of it on Wednesday morning seems a bit off. Especially when I had no lingering soreness on Monday or Tuesday. Is it possible to physically train my body with my mind? It sounds a bit far fetched for sure, but people who think they are physically ill can show signs of illness just because of the signals their brain sends out to their bodies. Couldn’t I stimulate my muscles in this same way without physically doing the exercise? Honestly I have no idea, but it sure feels like I did!
